Define "jam". Did the spent case fail to extract from the chamber? Did the spent case fail to eject all the way out of the slide? Did the next bullet fail to go into the chamber properly? Did the next bullet try going into the chamber before the spent case was ejected (double feed)? Did the slide get all locked up that you couldn't move it?
Many times, limp wristing (i.e. not using a firm grip or managing the recoil) can cause failures.
