Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart. However, they are social and political commentators on a network for clowns. Beck is a clown on a network purported to be a cable news network. Last edited by Krimson X; 04-12-2010 at 02:30 PM. |

"Social and Economic Justice" in the context of what he and others define as the Government taking from one and giving to another you're damn right. Guy #1 comes form a broken family and works his way to the top of success from hard work and good choices being forced to give his hard earned money to Guy #2 who did nothing with his life but do drugs and live off the system. Social Justice and Economic Justice equates to distribution of wealth. People who make more already pay more and actually pay for all entitlements, military and government programs and operations. You want more... |

Since Glenn Beck wants us to run away from our churches that support social justice, I ask myself... WWJD? Matthew 25:31-46 31"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. 32All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. 34"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' 37"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' 40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' 41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' 44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?' 45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.' 46"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life." |

If I look up in the sky and pray for "Fill in the Blank" will he hear me? I doubt it so I don't. What I do is try my best to be true to my word, helpful, honest (as possible) and be the best person I can be while on this earth. Religion is good for some and bad for others. Some need the structure it provides while some go off the deep end and become enslaved. So...What the heck did that have to do with whether of not "Social Justice" makes for a good government model. Some people need to fail and hit bottom before they get in touch with reality. If you keep feeding them and keeping them from falling thought their lifetime they learn nothing except reliance. Example: A family member has always been kept from suffering even though she was responsible for the suffering with terrible decisions in life. This has gone on since she was 13 years old and now that she is 37 covered in tattoos and piercings she can't take care of herself. She always had someone behind her to support her and pay for her poor decisions. She is basically handicapped. A government which takes from the rich to give to the poor ends up with a society which expects something for nothing. I believe in a hand up and even give a hand out, but at some point you have to let people deal with the consequences of their bad decisions. I guess that makes me a heartless guy who does not understand how tough people have it who don't have resources. |

Taxes are necessary for roads, police, the military and lots of good stuff like that, is that the same as obamacare?
No. I don't want to avoid paying taxes for those purposes and those like them. The easy answer why is because those purposes listed represent things that our federal government (or government of any level) is empowered to do. The Constitution is very specific about what they are and are not allowed to do, and is based on the very simple concept that a government of the people cannot possess powers or rights the people themselves do not possess. Every individual has the right to move about freely for travel, commerce and connecting themselves with other individuals. We can therefore delegate that right to a government that we will chip in our taxes to facilitate and expand our ability to do that. Hence the money we spend on infrastructure. We as individuals have a right to defend our own lives, our homes from attack or destruction, and our property from theft. We can therefore delegate that right to a government who will use our taxes to provide police who protect the entire community, firefighters who do same, and a military that protects the entire sovereign nation on our behalf. If we do not have the rights to do something as individuals, our government should not have right to do on our behalf or otherwise. If my company is failing, I do not have a right to simply take money from my neighbor to see me through those troubles. If I make a poor career choice, I cannot simply take money from my neighbor to subsidize a standard of living I have not earned. Basically, none of us have a natural right to the property of another unless through voluntary trade between the two of us based on mutually accepted terms. How then does a government of, by and for the people gain the right to simply take any property they choose, whenever they want, based on nothing more than political whim, to then simply give that money to another person, group, or company? I feel that welfare, medicaid, social security, and obamacare are unconstitutional. My $.02

You do not have to be catholic to be a Christian. You were responding to Dannyell who posted Beck's comments advising his listeners to run from any church that promoted social justice.I assume by your comments that you do not consider yourself a Christian, so my my post is not directed towards you, specifically. Sorry. It is however, directed at those who consider themselves Christians with "Christian values", but fail to understand the scripture and listen to clowns like Beck who tell them to leave their churches. |

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Hapyness...I don't think the framers of the constitution envisioned a gigantic bureaucracy taking everyone's earnings and distributing it how it sees fit. Have you been reading our medical schools can't turn out enough primary care physicians in the next 4 years to care for 30 million new patients? Patients who no doubt smoke more, drink more and do more drugs than average. What do you think that is going to do for our standard of care? Yes mr lab guy...We can get you in sometime in June for that checkup. Great...Also where do you think all this money being collected today for a program that starts in 4 years is being kept? Does Social Security Lock Box mean anything to you? |
