Reactions to Barack Obama's long form birth certificate
Soon after the White House released the president's long-form Hawaii birth certificate Wednesday morning, Twitter was abuzz with partisan jokes, barbs at "birthers" who have long denied that Obama was born in Hawaii, as well as endless amounts of ribbing at the expense of Donald Trump, who was one of the loudest critics of the short-form certificate. "Now that we've seen his birth certificate, I want to see proof that President Obama is black," tweeted "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane. "Obama's response to the 'Birthers' is so calm, intelligent, well reasoned, and non-incendiary, he couldn't possibly have been born here," wrote comedienne Paula Poundstone. Not all of the funniest tweets were appropriate to publish on a family website, but some were, and here they are. It only took his administration 3 years to forge it... that's pretty embarrassing
 On a serious note, if it's been available since he ran for President, why not just produce it 3 years ago?

Why was it necessary to satisfy "birthers" ?
The proper legal documents were submitted 3 years ago. All of this was unnecessary and now it's egg on the faces of all those who wasted their time on this nonsense.

As a citizen of the US, Trump can demand anything he wants of the President, as can any other citizen, but why now and why in response to Trump?

He already proved it and that proof was accepted by the United States Of America.
Hawaiian State officials verified his birth certificate and issued the proper documents. Are people calling Hawaiian State officials liars for submitting the correct documents? Seems to me that that people need to get their facts correct regarding this issue. FactCheck.org: Born in the U.S.A. In the meantime let's move on and join with Donald Chump and request Obamas college records......  Oh and BTW I have no idea what Obama's motive is but the birther issue and whatever is motivating it feels like a new low in American politics, particularly when you consider the extraordinary challenges facing this country and this president, that we would spend our time on stuff like that and attempts to marginalize this president.” Personally I believe there's something much different driving this issue.

Next, Trump promised to examine the birth certificate personally. "We have to look at it. We have to see is it real? Is it proper? But I hope it checks out," he said. Now, Trump is saying that President Obama wasn't qualified to attend Columbia or Harvard. Getthefuggouttahere, Trump! Trump is laughing all the way to the bank at your simple asses. What better way to promote yourself and your products than to push already debunked political conspiracy for free on all major cable news networks. Not to mention your own segment of Fox and Friends. The ratings for Celebrity Apprentice are through the roof.

Trump is an unfortunate mouthpiece right now. I don't think he commands much respect but he is commanding the attention right now.
I think Obama isn't coming out with the birth certificate now for the good of the country. Instead, I think it's as Jordo suggested but a bit reversed. He can play it up as a way to marginalize the extreme right that have chosen to use the "birther" issue as their foundation. It's as much for political gain as the "birthers" are using it for poltical purposes. He, and they, are politicians, after all. I think there are plenty of other areas to criticize Obama than the birth issue. I hope that the "birther" issue doesn't take away from the legitimate bases to criticize Obama because it takes away credibility from those bases. Since this issue has been characterized by some as a racial attack, may I ask whether it is acceptable or politically correct to refer to Obama as Caucasian or half-Caucausian? He is always referred to as "black" or "African American" but he is of mixed racial heritage but that seems to not be mentioned. Just curious....
