I think you’ll find all the engines used in the X5 diesel range (E53 & E70) are actually inline 6’s, not V6’s.
In Australia there are 3 main diesel configurations in the E70.
These all use essentially the same engine in varying states of tune with varying induction systems.
E70 diesel specs
3.0d (2006-2008) – 3 litre inline 6; 173kW/520Nm (single turbo)
30d (2008-2010) – 3 litre inline 6; 173kW/520Nm (single turbo)
30d (2010 -) – 3 litre inline 6; 180kW/540Nm (single turbo)
35d – 3 litre inline 6; 210kW/580Nm (twin sequential turbo)
40d – 3 litre inline 6; 225kW/600Nm (twin variable vane turbo)
