HIDs on Australian delivered E53s

Just another quick question. The 2004 E53 diesel I am waiting on being delivered has the HID option on it. I have heard that OS models with HIDs have adaptive lights (turn into the corners when you turn the wheel) and I was wondering if that feature was also a part of the Australian delivered models with HID. Could anyone with a 2004 model in Australia confirm this is true? I can't wait until I go and pick it up to find out!!! LOL

I recall reading somewhere that you could get Dynamic Lights without HID (though possibly not in Aust.), but not HID without Dynamic Lights. That is, all HID E53's have Dynamic Lights as far as I am aware. My 2005 4.8is has HID + Dynamic Lights.

Since the 3.0D doesn't have self-leveling rear suspension, it would need Dynamic Lights in order to comply with ADR's.

Enjoy the 3.0D, it is a great engine!

Thanks Grant. Yes, that diesel is a cracker of an engine. I can see why it won international awards a couple of years running for the best engine in the world 2.5-3L.

On the diesel not having self leveling rear suspension thing etc, HIDs have to have auto leveling to meet ADRs which is completely different to adaptive lighting where they move side to side with the steering.

I'm looking forward to picking it up on Saturday!

Dynamic Lights is indeed different to single plane leveling, but there was never a self-leveling light housing without Dynamic Lights, so far as I know (which isn't much).

Dynamic lights was optional for 2004 v8's only, standard on 2005 + 2006 v8's, optional on all others.

All factory fitted HID lights have the self leveling motors in them.
