Same boat for me but I went and bit the bullet 2...

Same boat for me but I went and bit the bullet 2 yrs ago and grabbed some 22" Vossens now this summer it's time to replace them.. Almost cheaper to hit Craigslist and keep buying tire/rim...

took the X5 to the gym which is only 10 min drive so i let it warm up 10 mins, no issues..
fan seemed normal, wasn't sounding like a jet engine or honda fan so i'd think the speed is fine,...

just noticed a coolant leak on my X5 3.0si this morning.. it was coming from the base of the expansion tank, the one corner where the hose plugs in, i'm hoping it's the sensor you mentioned above..
