I replaced my E53's battery in July last year and had intermittent problems with the alarm going off without reason, the 4x4 light coming up on occasion and the tyre pressure indicator alarm coming...

Not exactly sure how its connected on the BMW's but either you have a split antenna cable connection (ie you have a little bit of antenna cable sticking out the back of the radio unit with a female...
