I had an indy shop change my oil and had the same problem on start ups. They told me that they used the recommended oil but they did not. I changed the oil again using the correct oil and the noise...

I use the recommended oil. I am going to have it checked out by a friend who works at a BMW dealerership and hopefully it is just the tensioner as Justin said.

Wheel repair

Are all BMW wheels powder coated? I recently bought an OEM rim off Ebay and there was flaking of the paint as a result of a chip. If it is a fake I will repair the original rim on my X5.
