To minimise intrusion, they are also thin and light + heavy glass roof...

FYI to all you who followed this thread....

FYI to all you who followed this thread. Transmission lost 5th gear and failed soon after and required a rebuild. Rebuilder told me this issue is common with this transmission.

Mine exhibited similar behaviour at 70,000 km and transmission failure occurred soon after. It was rebuilt under warranty luckily. Cost was approx. $7K AUD.
