Original oil from the factory is Dexron III-H which can be replaced by newer Dexron VI. What I've used during the years is Petro-Canada AFT D3M.

Slices of plastic card will keep the plastic tabs unlocked while you pry out the glued points. Though wouldn't hurt to have some extra hands. And warming up those parts makes it a bit easier.

I don't know if the reset works in these code problems but it has resolved many other cases if cluster is doing strange things it's not supposed to do.
