and cannot move the actuator more than a few MMs in either direction. Possible the door itself...

Here's a thought... knowing that BMW has had issues with flexible harnesses ie. Trunk, hatch... it may hint at cracked or broken wires in the door to body loom, inside the boot. Pull back the rubber...
