I am seeing the same smoke periodically on my 2012 50i, but I also have a foul stink in the Cabin. Initial diagnosis is valve stem seals. Going in to get looked at next week.

First one was replaced under CPO at about 75k...

First one was replaced under CPO at about 75k miles. It had an intermittent slip that occurred once in a blue moon. The second one started slipping regularly at 133k.

Any idea what the is the "normal" temperature operating range for coolant is on a 50i X5 ? I've been monitoring the temp in the hidden menu and I am wondering what is normal.

Ok.. the X5 is fixed ! The oil leak was traced...

Ok.. the X5 is fixed ! The oil leak was traced to a vacuum pump which was replaced. For the battery issue they replaced the IBS and the negative cable. I also had them tighten up the rear hatch.....

Good point but I still have no visibility on the oil leak. If it's a common problem easily fixed. The battery drain issue is vexing. Never had this issue in 2.5 years of local driving.
