It will be interesting to see what the after market tuners will do with the front of the X5 M. If one comes up with a better looking front bumper design they could be on winner!

I guess ///M now stands for marketing and not motorsports. This is clearly a turn towards MBZ AMG. They'll throw an ///M badge on anything to make some extra $$$ just like MBZ. Its a sad day for BMW ///M.

Everyone has his own taste :) Personally, I think the cayenne is one of the most ugly pieces of sh*t ever constructed :)

Ok, just the simple fact that its a regular automatic slushbox that just shifts faster tells me its marketing. If they threw in a DICT box then I know they're serious.

Maybe if you knew the real mantra of ///M then you would realize that this is just meant to squeeze more $$$ out of ppl for an X5 with a nicer motor, sportier body kit, sportier suspension, and bigger brakes.

Real ///M cars were meant to run at the track straight off the streets. Over the years this has been diluted quite a bit to mass market cars. At least with current ///M cars they're offered with manual transmissions. Besides, does anyone plan on taking an X5 to the track? Seriously.

I agree. The cayenne just looks like a bloated 911 with a big guppy mouth. Sadly, I think BMW took a play out of the Porsche playbook on the front end of the new X5M. Looks the same to me. Big gaping holes up front to suck in more air.

^ I think the face-lifted Porsche Cayenne doesn't look too bad. The pre-facelifted model was unbearable though.

Are those "holes" on the front for catching birds??

I am sticking to my new order of a 35d M-Sport with 20" everyother option and 600nm of torque, its got nearly everything the same, even twin turbo's as well, just 2 pistons less! and probably better resale!

I see your point, but how many M3 or M5 owners take their precious vehicles to the track ? Anyway, there was a demand for this X5 M, mostly american demands. On the other hand, for most X5 owners, this will be a bridge to far and they will stick to a 4.8i. and BMW will certainly have studied the possibilities for this type of car and imo they did a good job. The car WILL sell.
