yeah, both will be there, "supposedly". BMW has been flipping their mind on X5 M debut everyday so Shanghai is still posible.

Now that is a Cayenne-killing price. $45k list price difference... yow...

Does 80,000 mean base price? M5 can quickly climb to 98000 when start adding options like HUD, leather dash, etc. I would expect fully loaded X5 M to be in the 90's.

I think it would be base price. I'm also expecting a fully loaded X5 M/X6 M to be in the $90K range.

Seriously, you really think BMW is infallible? Even the best business people make errors. Look at all the failed businesses that have gone down this year. From GM to Lehman Brothers. Please, spare me the business forecasts, market analysis, etc.

I think they started designing the X6 back in the early or mid 2000s when gas was cheap and everyone wanted SUVs and by the time the car came to market, the market went poof and it was too late. Might as well try to sell it. This being a niche board, I'm not surprised that there are many of you who are fans of the X cars (obviously right). But look outside your circles of influence and see how bad its is out there. Sure, BMW will sell some X5Ms and X6Ms. But I bet they will D/C the X6 in 4 yrs due to poor sales.

We can debate this till we're blue, but only time will tell what will happen.

Wonder what the gas mileage will be for this beast. I wish I had the $$ to upgrade my 4.8i.

Yes, base price.

So then a $100,000 X5/6 M is likely. X5 4.8i's base price is in the 50's but most on the lot are in the 70's once you add all the packages.

Without taking sides, wanted to make an objective observation. X6 has been out for almost a year. I happen to drive around every day in somewhat upscale parts of NJ and NY. And I have seen quite a few E70s on the road, both the 3.0i and the 4.8i, not to mention huge amounts of 328s and 335s. But I have seen a whopping total of maybe 3 E71s on the road. 3 !!
So if they are selling well, they must be getting shipped to like Fargo, ND or something, because around here I'm just not seeing them in the largest metro area in the United States.:dunno:.

One also has to question the wisdom of pricing a base X6 35i higher than a fully-optioned X5 3.0, or a base X6 50i much higher than a X5 4.8i. Seems like you're getting more bang for buck going to a parallel E70 (i.e. from a 35i to a 3.0 or from a 50i to a 4.8). More utility, more cargo space, better rear visibility...straight-line performance is certainly worse in the "parallel" E70, but I still don't think it's enough to vindicate the starting price point of an E71.

You don't see a lot of them because it's probably more about it being a lower production volume model compared to e70s, 328s, 335s, etc. Go to a dealer and there will be maybe 3 X6s whereas there will be 30 3 series and 20 X5s.
