i used this splash screen i found on a post. (see attached)

i edited a file from the link Ven gave. The Night Mode V32 one, but i didnt see night mode. I dont really know how to use the nav so that is probably user error. maybe its automatic... But either way it worked, screen looked way better, new DVDs coming, couldn't be happier. i'll just have to play with it some more later. (that what she said)

Okay - thanks for that. I'm not a Windows user as such... I think I'll have to use my wife's Toshiba laptop for this as the imgburn software isn't suited to ios or so it seems. May involve a bit of mucking around for me, as I'm not even sure the missus' laptop has a CD burner or drive!
I've gone through the search facility on this site and read a few older posts regarding this software update and wanted to know more about the navigation key CD and if I must do this too? Any ideas?
"You need to use the Key CD. This is a separate CD, and is different to the OS CD. Once you have used the Key CD you can go beyond V17. Without Key CD, you are stuck at V17 or earlier."

Hey I am going to snag that version if you don't mind. I like that splash screen better than the M one.

The nightmode is the color settings. You need to switch it to color 2 or something like that. It took me awhile to figure it out the first time. I never use it because it takes too long to switch over. Maybe if I took a road trip at night I might take the time to switch it.

ok, i thought i saw somewhere where instead of color mode it said day/night.

i did the work in a windows VM, then had my neighbor burn the CD. but i would look into that stuff more, i see you are not in US and i'm not sure if it's all the same or not.

I successfully downloaded from your dropbox, unzipped the folder and burned using the software you suggested - all on my wife's Window's based laptop. Still haven't got around to creating a VM on my MacBook Pro (will do soon though).
Heard all sorts of bells and a 'success' pop-up window, so I assume the disc is good to go... Haven't had a chance to try it out yet, as I'm flat-out at work but I'll give it a go tomorrow hopefully and report back. Still unsure about the 'key CD' referred to in the search result I found, but the Nav screen should prompt me for it if needed I hope. Thanks for your help.

Does this software have the UK voice option?

under language is has USA, E, and F for choices. E changed all the words to a foerign language, F was written in English and the Color Choice switched to say Day / Dight Mode. All the voices were in English and she sounds a little brittish. but I'm not that familiar with the Nav unit so if there is a different language selection area... i dunno.

i thought when i installed the update it said USA, UK, and French but i saw or heard no french.

The software that came with my MKIV had UK english. I really liked as the directions were different like--merge onto the motorway. I lost it when I upgraded to lasted available software. Want it back.
