One last thought. No one mentioned if these will these fit my 2005 X5 4.4

You need D2S fitment, same across all E53 with xenon's

QS changing the factory xenon bulb due to purple hue or just burnt out?

D2S is correct fitment as RB mentioned.

No purple hue and not burnt out. I'm Getting some additional work done which will allow easy access.
Since the bulbs are more than 10 years old why not do it now as opposed to waiting until later.
So I decided to throw the 4300K or 5000K subject out there just to see what others have experienced.

I Don't know everything about the Kelvin/ temperature facts, but I have read
quite a bit on the site about the subject. I also know that by now after 10 years
the stock bulbs that came with the 2005 X have to be a bit fatigued.
I know They don't seem to have the same brightness as they did when new and I would
like to have that bright look once again.

The difference between 4300K and 5000K isn't that much and since the 5000's
won't be blue but white in appearance it might be nice appearance.

I do know there seems to be quite a difference between previous year Accura TL's, Audi and lexus.
They seem brighter. But like I said it just may be a "what the eye sees thing". As I understand it Audi's come with 5000's.

Car Bulbs › Xenon HID Bulbs | HID Lights › D2S (85122) | PowerBulbs

thanks for the link
I can get a pair for $151 CAD (applied the 25% savings to the pair of bulbs)
if you buy two individual bulbs the multi-buy savings and the 25% discount still only take you to $178CAD.
hell thats so cheap compared to US sellers and it has free shipping.

The reason the Acura and Lexus seem brighter is because of some of them have a clear lens on the projector (sharper) and the optics of the projector are much more superior to the Hella E55 design on the E53.

If you get Osram CBI, they are technically not "brighter" lumen wise than an OEM D2S Philips/Osram bulb in 4300K, they just do not lose any lumens at that color temp they are rated at of 5000K (which usually happens when you move upwards of 4300K, you lose lumens)

The Osram Nightbreakers are actually supposed to have 10% more lumens at 4300K than a stock bulb.

Either way, after 10 years, any set of fresh new OEM bulbs would be welcomed and perceived brighter, whether it is the "boutique" Nightbreaker or CBI's or just regular 4300K

I'm gonna have to remove my bumper to replace my D2S's so I may as well go for the best halogen highbeam bulb as well (H7 i believe), since I have them coded to turn on with my bi-xenons...
Best or Brightest H7 Bulbs - The Answer

So I just ordered the D2S Night Breaker Unlimited and H7 X-treme Vision +130 bulbs.
my 10 year old bulbs will finally get replaced...
and what a discount on it all.
HIDbulbsrus and TRS couldnt even come close to pricing.
thanks for the website again QSilver7

Do you recommend any US-based sites which carry Nightbreakers? I'm taking my X in for service next Friday and think I want to have them replace the bulbs while it's there. I worry that a UK based company won't get it to me in time.
