What Do We Do For a Living?

What wakes you guys up in the morning....

Me, I'm a laminator technician/shop Forman. I am responsible for/oversee all shop production. Maintain all shop equipment, and take care of all of our service calls for the Portland area.

SQL Server Database Administrator and ETL Developer. Basically, I sit in front of a computer all day doing really boring stuff.

It pays well, gives me free time, and a way to cover my BMW and toy habit.

Landscape construction/excavation contractor. Basically I get to play with the toys that we dreamed of as young boys! Excavators, dump trucks, bobcats, rocks and dirt. I still enjoy the artsy side of designing hardscapes/landscapes, but the body is starting to get tired and looking to move to an administrative position-but I like working for myself!

Ex mobile-audio/video installer and car flipper. Current stay at home dad. Hah, doesn't pay well... but it's pretty damned rewarding.

Happy Retired Bum...
Bailed at 53, in 2000, after ~30 years in the printing products supply biz.
Worked for large manufacturer out of corporate in NYC, travelled my azz off, worked hard, got lucky.

'Printing' back in the '70s, '80s and '90s was the third largest employer in US by SIC, and a gold mine if one worked hard and smart.

Could not carry the bag today: old and tired, and it is a different work world out there, but I appreciate all of you that are keeping my SS and Medicare funded. ;)
GL, mD

Professional friend.

When you're feeling down I turn that frown upside down.

Biomedical Engineering student (graduating May '15) - If you know of anybody in the automotive engineering field, help me out! Already reached out to GM, Ford, Honda and Bosch, but I need some connections and would like to speak to somebody about working for those companies in person/over the phone.

I'm also a part-time "lot manager" for a big VW in St. Louis while at school. I'm basically a glorified valet/porter as they trust me more due to my prior experience at many other dealerships back home in NJ.
