Oh, this is why my adjusters sucked. The ball popped out of the socket.

Edit - here's an OEM Xenon light (I have OEM Halogens) There's a boot that appears to go over that... I do not have one, or did one come with these... :( http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/sEQAAO...tI/s-l1600.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wqDnAMD.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/WHeOyMY.jpg?1 |
The boot is made for the OEM xenon bulb wires to seal up. There is a boot, like you observed, on the xenons and not the halogens.
When you do a xenon retrofit without using OEM ballasts, skip that plastic cover totally. Measure up the diameter of the entire opening and find a rubber boot to slip over that opening. The Retrofit Source should have one that fits, as I think that is where I got mine from. I was in a similar situation as you. I went from halogen to xenon using the Spyder headlights. If you need any help retrofitting, just PM me. |
So... It's ok to leave wide open like that for halogens? I'd like to run them prior to the retrofit - as is.. What about condensation?
|
They're just going to fog up and allow water to get inside the housing, like in your previous picture. You can be ghetto and just duct tape close the hole until you retrofit. That will stop the condensation and be a free fix.
|
Sub'd for your retrofit results! I've had some small issues with fogging up, but that was after I opened them, and didn't get enough glue in the channel. RickyBobby hooked me up the first time around, doing the whole Evo-XR retrofit for me. Had no issues from the get go. Props to Jay..! You'll be blown away by the output of the projectors with some fresh OEM bulbs in there!!

Seems as if you guys that retro'd these were already coming from Xenon - What am I going to do for ballasts since I've got halogens? Go nuts and get all OEM from the ballast controller, harness, ect? Seems wicked overkill?
|
I was looking at the mirimoto 55w ballasts. I think the OE is 35w. Something to look into for sure, I need to do more reading.
