Yep they are garbage (the chinese H7 projectors included in the set) - if you had a OEM set of xenons the stock low beam projector would bolt right up to it as well

So the EvoX projectors just drop in? You mentioned the 4 long ass adjusting screws on each housing mount - what if anything needs to be adjusted on those?

Ricky Bobby 01-06-2016 11:15 AM

Yes, EvoX, E55, RS6, E39 (low beam) projectors all drop in, they have the same Hella mounting points on the bowl.

I'm talking about the screws that are threaded into the ball/socket and adjusted with the white hexes on top of the housing, to make adjustments I would park 20-25' from a level wall and do a proper adjustment procedure, you'd be surprised that it doesnt look like you are adjusting up/down much but you really have a decent amount of adjustment as long as the adjusters are working properly (and your ball didnt pop out of the socket like it did previously lol)

yup - i thought you meant on the projector housing mount. there's four studs it goes over, projector held in place with a small nut. They're stupid long.

To each their own on the cosmetic stuff, and I do agree the Depo's Xenon projector is not the best (I think part of it is that it follows the ECE code, which drops a lot of light on each side of the road which annoys US drivers). Upgrading the bulbs would help too.

On the whole though, I think the Depos do a pretty good job of matching OEM build quality. Headlights are not a place where you want to cheapen out, at least for me. If the OP can get what he needs and has the time to do it, I say have at it, this is all how we learn and determine the best upgrades

In this thread, almost four years ago:

MRBMWX5 did these for me:

AMAZING! OEM Hellas with HID/xenon. He baked off the covers, the works. However, given some large electric work, the little dealios (inverters?) that power the angel eyes have been removed, so they're dead. They weren't wired to be running lights, so they were only on when the headlights were on anyway.

Reading through this thread and some of the others, does anyone have any suggestions for upgrading again? I'm not so worried about the ultimate night vision or a 30,000MW ballast, but I would like the dual projector, angel eye, and fade look. And using the headlights that I have. Basically, a 2016 look on a 2002 4.6is.

I did look at the Depos on eBay, but A) $700.00. 2) I think what I have can be bettered now for far less. d) You guys know what you're talking about. And, 5) I'm pretty sure that I cannot do it myself. Hence using MRBMWX5 last time.

Anyone have any thoughts? Mine would be, like last time, having them installed and not having to think of them again. Well, except loving them and keeping them repaired.

Thanks again.

Quick update - Got a few sets of COB Leds from seller hid.lighting on ebay. I was trying to piece together a 125mm and 145mm set... well I wound up with different color temperatures, a warm 125mm and cold 145mm. I worked with the seller and they custom built me a matching set... being shipped from Hong Kong now. It only takes a week to NY, so not bad. If anyone wants to do this on spyders - this dood will hook it up for about $80 I figure.
