Wow that sucks. At least with FCP euro you'll never have to buy a new one again if these tend to be defective.
|
It could be worse. I did buy a big bag of assorted parts last year which included the updated stops and one of them came from the BMW warehouse and looked like it was 20 years old and in pieces - I had to exchange it back then.
All good, just in time for me to swap them out and accomplish all the little things that have been driving me crazy and/or on my to-do list, over MDW. |
Funny, I had one blow out, too.
|
^^Well you better order yours from FCP so they are warrantied for life lol - between them and the $40 trim piece above my steering wheel it was a $110 day lol

They are big improvement on the old reference! However, they dont always cure the rattling problem! They only solve the up and down trunk movement!
We found a lot of problems with missing bump stops on lower trunk lid lock ,which affect the side to side movement! The picture below is self explanatory ,so check if your bump stops are there! I cant find a reference number for these (maybe Quicksilver can help) and I didnt want to take one off a customers car :D,so I made my own:rolleyes:! |
^There are bump stops in there??

Cool. How did you make them? What holds them in place?

Be creative ,use what you have ( I used a used a car roof spoiler drill template );) Important thing is not to have any sideways movement !Its adjustable ,however but be careful and always mark original position. I |
