Maybe theres a better word for it ,than bump stops!(I usually associate the term with shock absorbers)But it does stop the hatch from bumping sideways
Just wish there were replacement parts for them!:dunno:

Well yeah, but I didnt even know they existed, so I sure as heck wouldnt know what they are called. :dunno: :D

More reason to get a 3D scanner and printer.

could they possibly ahve just fallen off and ended up inside the rear hatch somewhere? take the black plastic off and see if they are inside somewhere.

We found a lot of problems with missing bump stops on lower trunk lid lock ,which affect the side to side movement!
The picture below is self explanatory ,so check if your bump stops are there!
I cant find a reference number for these (maybe Quicksilver can help) and I didnt want to take one off a customers car :D,so I made my own:rolleyes:!

this is exactly how mine looks. D'oh. best try to track that down OR cut up a bit of school eraser to same thickness as plastic part on passenger side and glue onto the existing black rubber... why not just make the bump stop entirely rubber and exclude the plastic that could get lost. DAMN

Clockwork 05-26-2016 05:48 PM

so sadly that plastic "cap" over the rubber is not sold separately from BMW
it comes on the striker latch 51248120848
