The android unit works just like a regular double din and probably cheaper than most. I paid $700 or something for the pioneer in my f150 and cant do near what the seicane in the bmw can do.

But you keep your ios and carplay with the dongle I am talking about.

God I know it sounds like Im selling android units but I am just trying to pass on what I have learned. I have bought probably 300 radios in my lifetime and I have owner over 200 cars and trucks.

The regular stereos with carplay are kind of a 15 minutes and your life is set kind of deal. So if you decide to go pioneer or whatever normal double din find SOMEONE with one already like you are going to buy. When I say find one you need to find the EXACT model your going to buy and try it out. Heck take the apple usb cable into a showroom and try it out on the floor demo if you have to.

The 15 minutes and your set means whatever quirks that radio has are quirks you are GOING to live with for the life of that radio. It wont improve over time. NOTHING works flawless with apple carplay or android auto (androids version of carplay) completely. All have something they don't do perfect. The drawback with a pioneer or whatever is there wont be a "fix" for those annoyances. They only do 1 or 2 patches at the most for the life of a radio model. It takes a major goofup for them to even do those. Minor glitches they ignore.

Android devices are all app and driver based which means there will be updates for any give function. Even if the developer of the function you have now quits developing it or providing updates someone else will step up with a different app or driver to replace what they were doing. So bugs and glitches have better odds of being addressed.

So this isn't us trying to get you to ditch your iphone. You can use your iphone with the android. This is just about radio choices. If you do go with a generic double din in place of a factory look model I would be glad to help you with that too if you want. Just trying help.

The feature list seemed kind of sketchy but I think that's because its not out yet. I imagine they will do more specs when its released since its pre-order right now but that's just a guess.

The Sirius thing is just an android module I bet since the n7 is android based.

Why would anybody pre-order if there isn't a comprehensive feature list? Isn't the N6 android based as well?

I don't think it is or its locked down. I haven't seen anyone modding it and I know dynavin for a long time was big on windows pocket pc stuff fan.

If it is android there isn't a way to add apps to it from what owners have said. I don't own one so haven't tried hacking one to see.

Crowz 10-22-2017 05:29 PM

This is from their site.

Most Dynavin units use WinCE (older units) or a proprietary OS (newer units).

Crowz 10-22-2017 05:41 PM

More I read the n7 may have the Sirius port built in that would give it an edge for sat radio fans maybe. Still have to buy the sat radio module but it may have a direct port for controlling it which would be nice for sat radio people.

My mistake, didn't pay attention, thought it was a new Seicane model.

Crowz 10-22-2017 06:59 PM

Nope it was a new dynavin.

Went to town just now to get some fast food and while sitting and waiting on the food it really made me think of how well the seicane turned out.

No glitches or other bugs that have always been in the other aftermarket ones I had tried. Most of the other eonon units I have work fine but each as some little something you have to compensate for or take into account. The seicane so far just works. Kind of a nice change.

THIS is why I love the android car stereo and being open ended to do what you want.

Don't have a feature? There's an app for that or some cheap piece of hardware.

Newer android units like the Seicane I'm running support 255 devices best I remember PER USB PORT !

So add to your hearts content. But remember these devices take bandwidth so you can in theory just run out of bandwidth adding to many things at once but that should take a bunch of devices on a modern android unit. I don't remember what version added the usb hub support to do this. I know version 7 that's on mine supports it.

Also that device I linked is not the only carplay dongle.

For people with an eyephone but have an Android head unit they should look into the app Easy Connect. It allows you to connect an IOS phone to an Android headunit.

I think the only appeal to the Dynavin is the plug and play for people with DSP. I'd like to do what Crowz did but as far as I know its not possible if you have DSP.
