I’m attempting to rid myself of the self leveling error code due to the air suspension being removed from my 2004 4.8. I’m at wits end here.

If ZCS is changed corretly EHC2 module should not show on the list of modules which can be coded.

^ What he said.

Can you post your original ZCS strings and your modified one? Also, when writing the new ZCS, don't do the whole truck. Only the modules which store the ZCS. For the E53 I think that's the EWS and KOMBI (cluster). After you successfully code those two, the EHCII module should disappear.

Then, since you have a 4.8 you will have to code the DSC to think it's in a 4.4i N62 using NCSdummy or you will have a dsc error and light on the dash.

I am going into NCSEXPERT >DATEN>E53 and I am opening the E53ZST.000 file and I am erasing the line that reads
";0221 0000000400000000 LFEDER_2_ACHS //2-axle-LVL/CTL/SYS //2-Achs-Niveauregulierung"
I saved it as E53ZST.000
I went to NCSExpert loaded the vehicle, erased the last digit from GM, SA, and VN, checked the check box for Calculate Checksum then pressed "OK"

I went back and and wrote (scheiben) the ZCS to EWS and KMBI
I go back and try "code car" and I get a 'Nicht Antworten' (No Answer) error on the EHCII module. (Thank god I understand German). What am I doing wrong that the EHC module is still present?

To clarify, I should not be using the “code car” function at all? Should I be writing the ZCS onto the EWS and KMBI then closing out NCSExpert?

You don't erase anything in NCS Daten folder!!!

After you read ZCS in vehicle you change it by subtracting 4 from 8th bit of SA. Remove the last check bits on GM, SA and VN. Check box so that NCS will calculate new check sums. Save (ZCS_SCHREIBEN) new ZCS in EWS and cluster. Then start the actual coding by coding all modules (CODE CAR) or coding every module individually (SG_CODIEREN).

So by subtracting 4 from the 8th digit of SA this removes the EHC from the vehicle? Forgive me, I’m just learning this.

It removes EHC2 from ZCS (central encoding key) which is the guide line how NCS codes the parameter values on every module.

One bit can include 1, 2, 4 or 8 or any sum of these. (A=10, B=11, C=12...)

You can use code car. But will likely see an error once ncsexpert reaches a module that is either not present, or not communicating. For me that was the Bluetooth and dsp amp as I had removed them. Was just easier to code the specific modules associated with the zcs.

And yes, as clavurion says, don't delete anything from the daten folder. Everything is done in ncsexpert. First step should be to read your current zcs in ncsexpert. Then you can modify the strings as necessary to delete options and then code car. If you post your zcs we can help with what it should be changed to.

I’m not sure how to post the ZCS. Here are some snaps from the screen in NCS. I changed the 5 in the 8th digit of SA to a 4. I checked the checksum box then coded the two modules that have the ZCS in them (EWS and KMBI). The EHC2 module is no longer there. The trifecta of warning lights are gone but the Self Leveling Suspension error is still on the dash! I’m getting closer.. I really appreciate both of you responding and helping me.
Edit: Not sure why the pic is coming up sideways.

I’m also getting an error at changing ZCS on the EWS module when I code car. No answer. I can change the ZCS I. That module manually but have no idea how to check to see if it actually worked. I also changed the dxc to 4.4 without air in ncs dummy. Still have the self leveling warning on the dash
