What was done for the suspension intact light ?

Nothing yet. You have to code air suspension out of the vehicle order. I haven't done any real research yet as to how to do that but I'm guessing you need NCSexpert or some similar program. I don't think ISTA modifies the VO files. Hopefully someone with experience will chime in.

One option is this module from Suncore that tricks the computer in to thinking everything is fine. I goes in place of the old EHCII module.

But I think I'd prefer to edit the VO and just have the truck know to not look for the air ride.

You know my philosophy. It's only money and you can't take it with you. Skip the Variant/GC setups and buy one of these for the e30 and the e53. Why decide? :D ;)

Sell it as maintenance. The e30 has a leaking rear shock anyway. Causes rubbing in the rear. She's aware. ;)

Went for about a 200 mile drive yesterday through the south Texas hill country to get her impressions of the ride. Her thoughts were positive. Stiffer than air but more planted and sporty feeling. She approved. I snapped these when we went to look a property outside of town. It was a little too far out of town, but still worth the drive.

We did run into one problem though. Entering the highway on an on ramp it bottomed out HARD. Now, this was mostly the construction crew's lack of caring, but still. They left the on ramp at normal road height and scraped off the tarmac entering the highway and left a huge difference in height with no slope to transition. Must have been a 6inch drop. Truck felt like it got airborne and came down hard. Got light rubbing on the fenders/tires and heavy rubbing on the rear fenders/tires.

So, I'm going to remove the rear 15mm spacers and that should cure that. I also bumped the stiffness up 1 notch in the front and 2 in the rear. I might raise the truck up a half inch all around. But damn does it look so nice at its current height. What do you guys think? It's not a daily, so I'm leaning towards leaving it low... :D

Many people like the lowered stance so it is decided by each individual. I personally like the standard height as BMW designed it, it just looks "off" to me when I see one low.

For safety reasons I like being a little higher off the ground in the event of a side impact, all our critical body organs are above any impact zone. :dunno:

How to remove the EHC module?
 

Any luck coding out the error? Or coding out the module altogether? Is the module something you can physically pull out?


BMW Scanner 1.4.0 finds a module called "Electronic Height Control" but there are no coding options. Can only read and write the raw hex. There were a couple other related errors like in the anti-lock brakes about the failure of the height system.



Running the scanner finds the modules that are installed and doesn't find the ones not installed. Which makes me believe it's possible for this one NOT to be installed. So are we talking a software module or an actual thing that can be pulled out somewhere?

You can use bmw scanner (pa soft) and uncheck the air suspension option in the LCM to get rid of the error...
