You mean TVs have manuals.......I never knew!

I have a 2005 3.0D Australian version.

1) I dont have the power socket on the passenger side (although here in Oz, that is our drivers side). Although the bracket and carpet cutout is there.

2) I didnt get a tourch, not even the connection is there.

3) HOWEVER..... I can press and hold the LOCK button (the little BMW sign) on the remote and ALL my windows, including the Panoramic Roof, close. And, the trrick to hold the unlock button works with all windows and Panoramic Roof to open them... Just a shame you have to keep holding the buttons until the cyle has completed.

Now, what was the next hidden feature to play with... :confused:

a lot of the good ones have already been mentioned but i "discovered" a somewhat cool feature today when i parked the x in a parking garage this afternoon. when you fold down your sun visor, the plastic frame that surrounds the mirror extends to the right beyond the mirror. this is a parking stub/receipt holder. it can be pulled back and then it snaps back into place to securely hold a small amount of paper. in fact, i think there's one on both mirrors (driver and passenger).

not a super cool feature but very handy.

ok, new guy just realized that he posted the previous reply in the e53 section. i found this on my e70 but not sure if it's also on the e53. someone can verify. sorry for the mistake.

I did try pressing it forward as suggested but noticed it was quite difficult and didnt want to break it. Mine also has the superwash feature so not sure if its any different. Will give it another go in the morning

Yeah, sure, one "could" read the manual front to back but how much would you really miss?:dunno: Some of the cool features on my X5 I missed and reading this posting helped me find a couple of cool things i.e. moving up the console for better position or holding the unlock button to lower the windows. Little things like this that we skim over while trying to read the "important" parts I guess.
But thanks to everyone who's contributed on this forum, regardless how small, trivial and overlooked something might be.:thumbup:

I just found a feature I didn't know was there.

The vent function from the Dash Controller. When pressed the fresh air vent opens and the air in the car is recycled.

I actually learned the window trick with the remote from my mercedes clk430 i had in 06. It seems to be that the Benz and BMW share nearly identical traits in their electrical brains. Also since they are both German they have equally crappy plastics and failing electrical so the only difference i can find in the two is the BMW is more fun to drive and the Mercedes key ignition is $3000 if it fails.

I would have never found half the stuff mentioned on this thread, thanks everyone.
