I actually learned the window trick with the remote from my mercedes clk430 i had in 06. It seems to be that the Benz and BMW share nearly identical traits in their electrical brains. Also since they are both German they have equally crappy plastics and failing electrical so the only difference i can find in the two is the BMW is more fun to drive and the Mercedes key ignition is $3000 if it fails.

I know, GM and Ford use the highest quality plastics I've seen. If only the Germans could use some of those quality plastics.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

LOL ahahahaha r u kidding me? GM, Ford and Quality in same sentence? buahahahahaah how can you even think of comparing mercedes bmw and GM plastics? in gm everything is crapy and makes sound and after few years it looks like it was in WWII. try knocking on bimmers dashbord and remember that sound then go do same in ford. you will notice diference ;) Bimmer has really quality stuff. I am talking about cockpit and stuff inside car.

:iagree: I was referring to some complainer a few posts before mine. I have an 03 X5 and an 03 E320. Both of which are regularly confused as new cars. There is only one weak point in the X. The trunk. I fix the rattles about once a year on that, but aside from that, both are still solid as rocks and 0 wear on the plastics!!!

Not sure if it has been mentioned yet, but I had my lowbeam go out and it automatically turned on the fog lights.

It also kept the fogs on when I switched to highbeams.

Not really a feature as much as a cool trick.

What do you mean go out? Your low beam died while you were driving? or you turned them off? got try this :)

bimmerXfive 04-09-2011 06:54 AM

Hmm one of my low beams went today but it didn't turn my fog's on.
I wonder if this is a programmable feature?

It might be something in newer models. I hope not to test this any time soon.

It's another German safety feature :-)

here's a feature that i don't think has yet been mentioned.

you can program the order of info of the OBC in the gauge cluster.
do this by holding down the BC on the signal stalk and using the MID.

does your MID have the clock/BC button, or just a clock button?
My MID just has a clock button but my cluster is text capable and I can not seem to perform the trick you (and others) describe :(
