4.8is Alpina

I sold my 4.6is and have purchased 4.8is alpina edition from a dealer i know very well, have seen the car, and it seems to be very nice, its got alpina badges all over the place, steering wheel, tires and so on, it also has alpina trim on the outside, and running boards.
What do you guys think of ALPINA?
I know that dinnan and shnitzer are companies that modify bmw aftr they are already made in bmw factory but, i was tolled that alpina is its own factory which makes beemers with a close coaporation with BM Factory, can anyone explain to me better what alpina is all about and its a POSITIVE in general? my car is 05 edition

Congrats on the new car! You could start with Wikipedia --- lot of info there.

Thnx guys for all the support, i did read the wikipedia info, but i was hoping anyone here would give me more info from there personal experiences.
To be honest, its does not look liek anything special but the dealer as well explained that it has alpina trimming aoutside, i did not see anything special, except alpina badges all over the place, and also interior has black leather with aluminum trim and black leather has a very unique stitching.
I'am gettin the car from new jersey through maersk, and as soon as i get settled with the car i will post my pics.

I think that the E53 Alpina is pretty rare; maybe that's why you haven't heard feedback from anyone with that experience on this board yet. Also, it would be engine mods that appeal to me --- Alpina does tack on a lot of things to the outside and inside though.

Thnx, i know cause as i sayd not sure about the engine but anywhere that car must have bmw badges, instead it has alpina badges and the leather stiches inside are rear, nothing like i have seen before, the front lower bumper which is part silver part black, on this one it is completely silver and it does not have black in it. As soon as i drive it i will post the pics, i hope it also has mods on the engine.

If its a true Alpina car with all the mods done at the Alpina facility you have a treasue there, please take care of it. Alpina is probably the BEST tuner out there, and is considered a manufacturer in Europe. They are less well known on the states, as they specialize in true perfomance and engine conversions, and less in bolt on parts (ala AC Schnitzer).

Even if it is only Alpina parts though, you still have some very rare, very beautiful, very expensive parts. Please post pics! If it was my SAV I would definitely do more digging into its past.
