From former lowrider to new SoCal lowrida

I had this issue and I was low-ridin in my car for a couple weeks. When I had this problem it turned out to just be the sensor. The sensor is cheap to replace but I don't know if it will show up as a fault (with an ODB II system) when you have the problem. The dealer diagnosed my problem. Your symptom of the car bottoming out and then pumping back up is what I saw too so I hope it is that simple. If you buy the new sensor it is easy to replace and I don't even think they took off my wheel to replace it.

The pump for the air suspension is under the passenger bench and/or rear hatch floor. There is a lot of info in a .pdf that i have so I'll try to send it too you since it's too large to attach to this post. Just shoot me an email at [email protected]

My dash is just about pixel'd out so I feel ya on that. The bags (air ballasts) for the suspension are supposed to be high quality so I would suspect them last as the problem. I feel that some of the Land Rover influence on our X5s made it suck but overall it's still the meanest machine i can find.

Aside from the sensor, I imagine it could be the symptom of other problems on the car but you can search this forum for more on that.

I had the same problem and it was justa bad sensor. Dont stare too long at the backend..your mind will play tricks on you and you will be convinced it is sitting lower. Have the sensors checked out - may just be loose or need replaced.

Self Leveling Suspension
 

Well, here's my story! two weeks ago, I was having the same following message(Self Leveling Suspension) that keep appearing on my dash boad,
It was held there on every start-up. And one morning I wake-up and found the rear vehicle is sooo low than normal high where you couldn't even see the top tire because it goes all the way up inside.

2)First step, I searched on this forum regarding this particular issue
and found out there is another fuses locations located in the rear vehicle
on the right side which I already knew. And I tested all my fuses but last one which is a 30.amp. turned out to be dead (it's blown out) I just replaced it with the same ampere fuse (30) And after 45 mnts to 1hr. the rear vehicle has lifted back up to normal high position.

Thankx Goddddd I fixed it!!!

Note: Even after the new fuse has been replaced, you will still notice the(Self level suspension Inact) message appears on your dash board N'till the rear vehicle has been completely lifted-up. After 1hr. turn the engine back on and the message will disappearrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I'm glad you got that fixed with the fuse. Troubleshooting BMW electronics can be scary if you don't have a really good scanner tool or BMW's know it all diagnostic software.

Now I keep having self level susp. inact on my dash board too, but my rear vehicle is not lower, is in the normal position however this following message keeps poping up on every start-up now! Before, it was a fuse that caused the back lower and every since I replaced the fuse, after 45mntes my rear vehicle went back to normal position
and the message were disappeared. But now come back again with no lower back and the fuse is ok.

How doest the sensors look like( for the rear level susp. inact.) is there any picture that can show the back where it's located...

If your X still has to pump up the back every morning then you might have a leak in the air spring/shock. If you put in the fuse and it lifted the back up - it should stay that way in the morning. Maybe I misunderstood you.

No! my rear vehicle remains still in the normal heigh position every since I replaced the 30amp. fuse, it just the ignoring message( self level susp inact) that keeps appearing on my dashboard on every start-up now.

Maybe the fault just needs to be cleared? :dunno:
