Hey, I just had the same issue with my 2005 X5 (4.4).

I heard that the issue could be due to a couple things. The ride height controller is broken, the controller needs to be reprogrammed, or what is most likely, the sensor that indicates ride height is broken and needs to be replaced. This is what was wrong with mine and the rear end was bottomed out in the lowest position until I got it fixed. Be advised, if you drive the car around while it is low like this you Will burn up the inside of your tires. The dealer also replaced a fuse after they replaced the sensor. It was a 30 Amp fuse for the pump I think.

Good luck with the issue. If you get this alert on the display and it doesn't go away as usual then the suspension will probably bottom out on you until it is fixed. You hould have it fixed soon after.

Save yourself a few bucks and replace the sensor yourself if it is diagnosed as the problem.

Email me if you have got more questions, I don't get to sign on here much. [email protected]

it's two different things... self leveling suspension is standard on the 4.4, 4.6, and 4.8. If you have a 3.0 it's an option. Self-leveling only works on the rear axle and is notorious for false messages to the ECU. It has a timing issue that sometimes triggers the idiot message if the compressor runs to long.

Mahmud,
You do have self leveling suspension. The picture is for Adjustable ride height and is standard is most 4.6 and 4.8 vehicles. I had the same message on my truck a few months back and it was because mine had a slow leak. Take it to the dealership or an independent and have them run the code. It does not stop your from driving the car but my back wheels dropped down a little which made the ride really bumpy in my truck.

Good luck!
