Latest update :

Changed air suspension hoses on rear left side of air bag. Unfortunately, left side still collapses after 2 days sitting in the garage. Already installed new air bag on left side. Getting a bit frustrated after 2 months of trying to solve air suspension problem......any suggestions ??? :dunno:

Not too sure

I am not sure what could be causing this issue for you. I have a similar problem but I drive often and don't have to worry about it too much.

My only advice would be to really read around this forum to find a fix someone else posted or consider going to the stealer to get a diagnosis and fix it yourself.

Good luck,

Adrian

Either something is loose or the hose and/or bag are defective. Did you take any pics of the installation? Some pics would help us see. In any case try spraying the air bag and hose with soapy water, if you see any bubbles forming then you have a pin hole leak. Also check the air hoses under the spare tire where the air pump is located, one of those hoses could be broken as well.

If the lines are good and not leaking at any connections, and the bag is good, already replaced... it could possibly be the valve block/solenoids not seating properly and letting air past. The valve block is in the hump with the air pump, worth checking.

this warning just came on today, i have searched other forums and they said to check fuse and it looks good. i never pushed the descent button and i was on a steep hill so was curious and thats when the light came on.. i cant raise of lower the car any more, the car is completely level with no sagging on any side......any clues. the funny thing is im bringing it to the dealer on tuesday for a very annoying squeek which i thought was coming from the rear suspension but figured it was just some bushings or something. this sounds expensive. another question is i was going to get the extended warranty but does anyone know if the compressor is covered or whatever it may be?

My (self level suspension inactive message) did not appear as often now, however I suspected on my dashboard only specially after my car been sitting
in my driveway for 2 / 3 days without starting the engine, which cause the rear vehicle to be lower a little bit. And this also cause the (self leveling) sensor to activate the message on the dashboard. But like you said, I really don't worry about it because I drive it only: 20 to 30 miles per month very short trip around my town. So I just go outside every 2 days to start the engine by the way you send power to the level suspension system.

Ensure that all your fuses are working meaning (not burned out), If not, there could be a cut off somewhere, I'm gonna check it out for you 2morrow coz I'll be off.

Just an update. My indie shop finally found out that the new air bag that they installed was defective. They conducted a leak test and found this out. They will prepare report to claim to BMW for the defective part. I have to wait another 2-3 weeks again for the new replacement part.

Still good that you found the problem. But know this: when you change one side you Should change the other! I didn't believe it and other side popped anyway...
