Took my 2005 4.4i into the local dealer with trans issue as stated on this thread, and upon return this was stated on the invoice:

"Performed short test. Checked faults on engine and trans No faults."

What ever you don't ask this dealer to perform the software update in Southern California - they actually trashed my X5 doing an oil change . . .

show this to your dealer:

I showed to my dealer and he did it. no more harsh downshift.

I just got my 05 4.4 about two weeks ago and noticed this happening. It is noticable sometimes in drive but horrible when I am in sport mode. I was worried because my 01 never did this. I am going to call the dealership and get this in to get fixed.

hi everyone..i have a 2005 with a 05/2005 build date i think my tranny is ok..i get some jerking when its cold on initial start give it a little gas and it smooths out...think i need s/w update..from what i am reading it for build date up to 04/2005..thanks rob

I'm getting fed up with my stealer......for months now when I am coming to a stop from about 5mph to 0 I feel a jerk like if someone rear ended me....maybe from 2nd gear to 1st it jerks?????

The software was "supposedly" updated but nonsense....2 days later same issue...

anyone esle?
