Took some pics of the remote, screen with active function and the webasto heater by the engine.

Turns out the ventilating option doesn't put on the AC. Pretty useless if you ask me. Just don't see the point :dunno:

The remote only put on the webasto heater no matter the outside temperature. Its getting chillier over here, so will put this baby to the ttest.

Has anybody in the UK contacted BMW parts and got a price for the part 95.06.0.000.010 (the remote kit for the heater)? I just called mine but theyre closed. I want to know how much this add on is because I think this would be a great addition now that Winter is around the corner.

Adrian keep me posted on price etc. Want to know if its an easy install aswell.

Right, I called my local BMW and the part number does exist on their system, it comes up as PK HEATING. Presumably it means Parking heater or similar. The cost is £389 incl VAT so i`ve ordered one. They are due in tomorrow (26/10/05) in germany and then will be shipped out to me so it`ll be about a week I think before it arrives. I asked parts if it was a dealer fit part but he said he doesnt think so as the system doesnt say so.. When it comes I`ll have a go at fitting it. Fingers crossed.

I've had my car in for a service at the dealer and asked them to check it out. They told me that there is a problem with the heater and it is booked back in this Friday (28th). I have read the manual that came with the car and you all seem to be on the right wavelength. It does read as though all diesel cars have got the heater installed to help heat the car up after setting off for the first time. I did not get a remote control for the car though and I am wondering if this is needed to make it work.
After the car has gone in I'll let you know the outcome.

Finally got my Webasto remote kit and will be fitting it later or tomorrow depending on the weather. FYI, in the box you get a black receiver module which mounts in the boot by the battery (where the TV mod and other things are), there is a connector in the wiring loom to the right of the battery which links to the new receiver which connects it to the Kbus (the instructions say). You get a remote control with ON and OFF buttons. Once the remote is programmed to the car (fuse removal procedure and then re instertion whilst pressing buttons etc), you can turn heating on and off remotely. The remote also gets signals from the car too to confirm whether the car heard your request etc. Finally you can program the remote to turn on either the heating OR cooling and also for how long it should run.. More later when it`s installed.

All done, the install went well. The only confusing bit was where the instructions said I needed to use an adaptor cable (supplied) but the car actually had the right connector already so I didnt need the adaptor. The install was easy, the box installed in the boot by the rest of the electronics which are by the battery. The antenna sticks to the rear side glass, just a black rectangle which doesnt look out of place. Powered it all up, programmed the remote as per instructions and tested, I knew it was working because I could smell like a parafin smell but I couldn`t hear anything until I put my ear to the grille at the front of the car.

Superb upgrade and highly recommended.

If anybody needs help during install please PM me and I`ll try my best but it really is quite easy.

Sorry, it was freezing when I installed it and I just wanted to get it over with. I`ll explain a little more.

The antenna sticks to the rear right little window, just overlapping the black band around the glass, looks quite neat there.

The reciever has self adhesive tape which when peeled allows you to stick the little black box upside down (with two wires already connected at this point) to the wall of the boot area where the battery goes.

The antenna cable routes through the plastic panel by the window and from then on is not seen, it goes over to the fuse box and then cable ties along the rest of the cables in to the battery area where it connects to the receiver.

That`s about it really, you have to pull out the second to last 5amp fuse from the rear fuse box for 5 seconds, then plug it back in a wait 5 seconds and then press the OFF button on the new remote for 1 second to program the new remote to the system. You also do this with up to 2 more spare remotes if you have them.

There are actually 3 instruction books, one is a small portable one, the other is a few printed sheets with pretty good UK install instructions on and the third is a useless larger manual with loads of different languages in it.

I`ll have to scan the install instructions later and put them on here for you.
Hope the spelling is ok, I`m just hammering this out as it`s fresh in my memory.
