Hi Tambadingdong..... Next time keep turning the lugs from 12 o'clock to 3 o'clock until all the nuts stripped,,,,, by that time your wheel should come right out.:lmao:

This thread is so very sad.
  1. Our X5s don't have lug nuts. They have lug bolts. By definitions, nuts have internal threads.
  2. While our X5s all have lug bolts that are loosened by turning them counterclockwise, one can only hope that the OP never works on an older vehicle (ie 60's vintage) that has a combination of LH and RH threaded lugs, on either side of the vehicle. Last vehicle I owned that used LH threads was made in 1997, so you don't even need to go back that far.
  3. Use of the words tighty and loosy automatically disqualifies all applicants from the man club. Sorry, it is a bylaw.

That's correct. Lug bolts is right. Honda's have lug nuts. Thanks for pointing out.

Yeah, if the lefty loosy blah blah has to be explained, it's automatic disqualification and banning from the club. ;)

Particularly since it is such a useless mnemonic. It is usually applied to a wrench handle. It only makes sense if the wrench handle is at 12 oclock (left = looser). If the wrench is at 6 oclock, it is opposite. If the wrench is at 3 oclock or 9 oclock, it is irrelevant. And, all of the above only works if you are looking at the end of the thread that the nut will come off. If you are taking the nut off the back of the bolt, it is all reversed yet again.

Instead, use the right hand rule. Hold up your right hand. Point your right thumb in the direction you want the nut or bolt to go. Curl your fingers. Turn the wrench in the direction you have just curled your fingers. Added bonus: you can figure out vectors and electromagnetic fields with the same right hand rule.
