NYC stop and go traffic only gives me 12~13/mpg ,horrible

I put my foot to the floor at lights just to feel the pull of the V8, with my 01 4.4 and I get and average of 380-400 miles per tank around the city and 490 on the highway.

Its true, with just hwy, I can get 21mpg consistently on the 4.8is. If its straight city driving, I'm looking around 11mpg with fast takeoffs. Its quite a range but when I let the OBC avg itself out, its about 18mpg. The N62 IS that more efficient than the older M62. Then again, probably having the 6th gear helps extend the fwy mileage a bit.

it changes a lot depending on driving conditions... anywhere between 5 and 10km/l (11 to 22mpg)
The average for my 3.0 is around 15mpg with a lot of city driving and a little highways with an average speed of 20mph |
mostly city so 12.5mpg

Two months record
I find the on-board computer to be very accurate. I recently tested it on a trip from LA to Las Vegas, often driving 85-95 MPH. My calculation was 19 miles per gallon, the X5 computed 18.8. In the city, I post around 16.8 MPG. I would say I drive at a level to enjoy the 4.4. In other words, not overly aggressive, but not passive.
(I purchase my 2006 X5 in July. It had 20,500 miles. It is CPO'd. Because of this website, I have already installed an Intravee II--love it. This Friday, I am having running boards installed.) |
