If I find out that its the amp thats gone, that I would just replace that! Thanks for the tip. Will def look into it, hope someone can let me know where the amp will be if I have one.

Ive also been talking to another member on here, whose selling his navigation system. Hes looking for 1100.00 for the kenwood double din radio, sat, bluetooth, tv tuner, cd changer, and ipod adaptor. Would have to look into the bezel that another member posted about from ebay.

You have the most resourceful X5 website at the tip of your hands. You gotta search man, search is your friend :D

Seriously. The amp is located in the cargo area, on the drivers side. Do you have CD changer? If so the amplifier is underneath the CD changer bracket.

There isn't going to be much you can do without looking at the wiring diagram.

My guess is that its your amp that is gone and that water or something go into it. Do you have a friend with an X5? An easy way to do this would be to swap amps. Now you'll have to make sure the X5 has the same config (you either have the premium DSP system or the regular one) as yours.

That's the easiest way to start diagnosing this stuff.

As far as the used Kenwood NAV Radio goes, technology is changing too quickly, you'd want the latest and greatest.

So I dont have the CD changer. I have the regular front load cd player. Do all X5s come with an amplifier? I feel soo much better if I just have to replace the Amp, will spend money on rims and other stuff!

Yes, every U.S. based X5 has a amplifier.

So go check your cargo area on the drivers side. Remove the panel (you'll see the handle) and down below, near the floor you will see the amplifier.

Again, there isn't much you can do without a schematic, so do you have a friend with an X5 that can help you out?

I dont have a friend with an X5, but I do have an uncle with a 03 5 Series...wonder if that would help.

The 5 series amp could very well work, provided the 5 series has the same stereo configuration. Does your radio in the dash have a "DSP" button?

If it does, the 5 series will have to have a "DSP" button as well.

If you do not have a "DSP" button, then the 5 series cannot had a DSP button. The amplifiers between the stock and 'premium' (DSP) stereo are very very different.

Okay, will have to call my uncle and check with him.

Thanks for the information! Youve been very helpful. Too bad your arent closer, lol. jk.

I wonder if I can go to a car audio shop, if they can try one of theirs, which of course Ill buy if it works. Will I be able to buy an after market amp?

Not easily. You really are better off buying a used amplifier. I saw one on EBay with a starting bid of $20. You'll be able to score one for cheap if you find out its the amp.

By the way, the amp is located in the same area on the 5 series so you won't have a hard time finding it.

Be sure to disconnect the battery before doing anything to either vehicle.

I went to realoem.com to look at their prices....they want 448. Took the part number and looked in eBay and found a lot of them, with "buy now" prices of about 100.00.

Thanks for the info! You've been soo helpful, I think you saved me a lot of money! Thanks again!

OK man, good luck. Remember, parts for these BMWs aren't cheap, so if you don't feel comfortable doing the work, try and find a friend or someone who can help you. Remember to disconnect the battery before you mess with anything. Take it easy....

So I just recently bought my amp on eBay. Paid 150 bucks for it. Just received it yesterday. Will be attempting to put it in today.

I hope this is what I needed!
