I know your right. I talked to my uncle, who has the 5series, but he had the DSP option. So I couldnt borrow his to test it on my X5. I talked to a couple of Sound shops explained my situation to them, and they all agreed that it sounds like the amp, like you mentioned. They told me it would cost me more to replace my amp with an aftermarket amp than to buy the BMW/Alpine amp for my car. I guess they would have to change all the wiring from and to the speakers. Finally I talked to my dad, whose very handy, and he also thought it sounded like the amp might be the problem. SO I placed a bid on the amp that you pointed out, that started at 20 bucks. Received it yesterday, and Im gonna try today. Wish me luck! |
I unplugged the battery. Removed the old Amp. Plugged in the new amp. Plugged in the new battery. and it WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chris F. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH. Not only did you help me by telling me whats wrong, but you also saved me lots of money!!!! Thanks sooo much. |

I did the OBM/Nav retrofit early last year on my 4.8iS.
No one seems to sell a full kit. Best route would be to get the required units and harness from a salvage car but plenty of stuff on Ebay. I got the wiring harness from a dealer though at least two dealers claimed it didn't exist. My nearest local dealer special ordered from Germany but had to pay up front. There are two harnesses, one is a direct replacement for the existing one. The other one is an add-on harness in addition to the existing one. I got the full replacement and was happy with it, others claim the add-on version is easier to install but harder to obtain, I don't know. Here is the thread with pics. Good luck. http://www.xoutpost.com/electronics/...s-harness.html |
