hi guys,
so if the outer CV joint is bad, we have ticking sound when wheel is turned, right? how we know the inner one is bad? |

The only test I am aware of beside a bench inspection is acceleration deceleration noise from the shaft. Anyone else have thoughts? |
^I Agree with Stephen, the inner boot kits and inner joints basically almost never go bad and can outlast the vehicle.

why i'm asking, was in a service here, and they said my outer is dead (and i agree, as i have the ticking noise when turning) but, also, the inner one is on his last miles - and i should hear some ticking when driving straight.
all day today i was driving with my window open, and (maybe it's because i want to hear it) but i can swear sometimes i here some ticking ) |
well. i have on here a thread, and my shaft are 27mm, and where i live they import only 29mm axles. so not a choice for me, unfortunately.

so been today in the service. bought with myself the outer cv joint and an entire axle.
they compared the inner on both: my old one and the new one, said in the end they don't recommend replacing the entire axle and it would be wiser to replace just the broken outer joint. that because i would leave the original bmw inner one. so i agreed. we'll see if i did the correct choice. before: https://e-a.d-cd.net/583769as-960.jpg after: https://b-a.d-cd.net/3c3769as-960.jpg |
