If I wasn’t such a horsepower junkie, maybe I could follow suit. Ole girl needs a real bath, 911!

That said, my back can't take a weekend of paint correction, polishing, and washing anymore. So I'm happy to pay my detailer what he charges for the service (half what most do). He's very detail oriented and gives me good "feels" (important to us car guys if we're leaving our toys). Wish you were closer, he'd take care of you.

This is definitely another reason.

Dropped the valve covers off at the powder coater (the only one I could find in Houston that has any experience with magnesium and would actually take on the job). Going to give the blacked out beast a little color under the hood.

I dropped my E53 off today in the Heights. Thread coming soon! (Hopefully)

If I can get the time together I too intend to put together a comprehensive thread of everything I've done since taking delivery a year ago.

Classic trifecta of warning lights came yesterday. Codes on DSC showed VTG internal failure. When transfer case servo was activated with diagnostics there was a nasty chunking sound at the end of the motion range. Today tackled the problem and crawled under the vehicle. Servo removed and taken apart revealed the suspect worn plastic gear. (Exactly like on the sample picture from internet.) Turned the gear 180 degrees and problem solved for now. Remains to be seen if I eventually have to get the repair set including a new gear from BMW.

Pay $10 and get a carbon fiber reinforced gear. Changed mine out and it works fine. Probably never have to touch it again since the first one lasted over 250,000 miles.

I have a spare actuator motor from e90. Is it compatible? It has a metal gear.

Pulled car out of the garage, parked for about an hour and come back to a very odd scene of the rest window "inverse" cleared.

What crazy physics caused this?
