I wish that was the case Gary, I feel so stupid and just emailed the guy from Ebay now, hopefully he understands and isn't pissed, how can I be such an idiot. although I've been looking at so many auctions for interior trims I guess I just got confoooooozled, lol.

I told him I'd take the set if he wanted to sell me just the pieces that would work for my X for cheaper, but the center console piece itself is $200 from the dealer so I don't want to just steal the whole set from him, so I don't think its worth it. My search will continue and in the meantime I'll enjoy my light wood while it lasts lol!

The parts from the UK which make me think the picture not flipped. At least I point it out so RB didn't waste his $.
We have the same amount of snow/slush/freezing rain. We went on a little grocery shopping in the iS.

RB, Why not just mod your current trim pieces?

I'll take that heat again any day v.s. subzero temps. With that heat you can at least wake up early even if its 90 outside early a.m. and even late at night and go for a walk, exercise, enjoy a meal outside like at a restaurant, etc.. but with the extreme cold you cant do anything like that. Ok, I'm done ranting, sorry haha

Looking into having them done professionally at paint shop, just waiting on quote, should be around $250-300, much less than the ridiculously priced sets on Ebay and from Latvia, one wrecker from Latvia sent me counteroffer saying he'd do $660 shipped, I can buy whole new set from Tischer for $50 more!

I refuse to wrap in vinyl although finished result looks good if you are good at it but if I'm doing color change it is for long term lol.

If you want to try the wrap, i can send you a sample for you to try on one trim. I have some left over. It's not the color you want but it's just for testing. PM me if interested.

Cool! I painted mine semi-gloss black a little over a year ago but some of those cracks are already showing through. I blame the crazy temperature fluctuation messing with the wood. Make sure that the shop uses a flex additive in the paint to allow it to expand and contract a bit.

I've also been thinking lately what about getting them water transfer printed like bcredliner just did to his engine cover. Anyone know if this would hold up well with the wood?

You assume that vinyl wrap is for short term? It does last. Some friends have had CF wrap trim in their E39s for 6-7 yrs now.
Try the Brush Aluminum wrap. It's pretty close to what you want.

Ricky Bobby 02-12-2014 05:33 PM

I believe it does last, I think you mis-took me Tam and I may not have spelled it out the best way.

Vinyl wrap is great for some but for me if I'm doing a color change I'd want it to be permanent, as if it looked that way from factory. If I have to change a window regulator or remove the console for whatever reason I don't want to be scared to rip the vinyl, scratch it or have it pull off ever.

I actually really like the hydrographic method, its like vinyl wrap with clearcoat, great process.

I said it once and I'll say it again, if I do OEM trims, they will be Titan Silver, but if I get a shop to paint my trims, I want that sexy, dripping wet Piano Black or Cosmoschwarz look, and although a lot of vinyls come close, nothing like a black paint job.

The 3M brush aluminum is great vinyl though, I've seen clockwork's handiwork.
