Jason,

Thanks for the details. I'll PM you in the morning!

Thanks for the heads up, I'll check into it. Am I correct in thinking if I also go with a fluid temperature module, I can tie a couple sensors into the same module? I noticed on the PLX website pic that there are only 2 sensor input clips on the module. Am I correct in thinking I would need to buy another module if I want to see oil, coolant, and transmission temps?

One module per sensor, Matt. For temps the DM-100 will cover water through the OBDII port. The OEM gauge cluster will cover oil temp, and I wouldn't worry about a trans temp reading.

For example, here is a pic of my setup during the install. All of the sensors are not fully wired, but you get the idea. I am using two widebands, one EGT, one Oil pressure, and one Boost sensor module (not pictured).

If you're certain the mounting of the headlight itself is not causing any issues (the 4 bolts in the frame rail), if you had the lights open to install AE's, you could play with the rubber spacers by tightening or loosening the adjustments on the 4 nuts, to give some axial or radial play. There is not much, but its there. To be fair I tried my best to line them up with my reference line in the basement, but any slight movement of each headlight when testing could have skewed a degree. Always best to aim the headlights with the lenses off, and them mounted on the car, but I didn't have that option.

PM me if you need anything Matt!

I don't think it's anything on your part, I'm gonna mess around with my mounting hardware a bit, I probably overlooked something somewhere. Thanks for the info on the "innards!"

OK, so the indicator in the bottom center of my control panel shows oil temp? I thot that mite be tranny temps.

Started up the car today and got a low coolant level message. Fixed it with a bottle of Zerex G-05 from NAPA and a pitcher of water from my dorm after my rush event.

Frattin' hard.

Aux instalation

1 Attachment(s)
Installed Aux in my 2005 E53 3.0. Used Aux cable (not for nav) from Turner Motorsport ( Pn# 82110149390, $39.95, easy instructions).
Took 45 minutes. I had to disassemble the connector on the new cable because there was already a black 12 pin connector in the lower right of the radio harness block. Disassembly was easy, unlock connector and slide out pins.
Located the receiver above the cigarette holder in the ash tray.

Thanks for the help from the Xposters!!!

Where did you wire the Angel eyes for power?

My kit was the Ebay one RB mentioned above, it came with a relay harness. I got the positive power from the positive terminal. The eye at the end of the wire was too small to put over the bolt so I did have to cut it into a spade connector. To attach it, I undid the nut, put the connecter over the bolt and tightened the bolt back down. The DIY in the How To section has someone cutting an opening for the positive wire on the relay to exit the plastic protective cover. However, there is plenty of room where the battery positive cable exits to fit the relay wire and still close the cover.

For the Relay ground, I put it to the backmost driver's strut tower bolt and threaded a second nut down to hold it in place. Again, I had to cut open the ring connector to make it a spade so it would fit over the bolt.

I got the switched power for turning on the angel eyes from the red/white wire in the e-box (middle black connector, front row, 4th from left on my '02 3.0). To get to the e-box, remove the plenum cover by undoing all the quarter turn spring loaded clips and lift it off. Then remove the corner of the duct by the e-box by lifting it straight upward. Last, remove the 4 ebox cover screws. I tested the red/white wire with a multimeter to confirm that it was off when the key was off and had voltage with the key on. I saw a thread when searching that said someone had their angel eyes come back on when the car was off for a while. So I made sure with the multimeter that the red/white wire stayed off before tapping into it. Double check your wiring before beginning.

The relay kit didn't come with side taps included so I picked the ones on the left up at radio shack. Here's a picture in case anyone needs a part number.

http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...psw5wgvxwp.jpg

I saw one DIY where someone drilled a hole in their e-box to get the tapped wire out. An easier way is to poke a hole through this circular cutout in the grommet for the main wiring bundle. I ran it down and under the main loom to make absolutely sure no stray water could get in.

http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...psfqadxvej.jpg

I should take a minute to say that the relay harness I got was way too short so I had to run it in the engine bay in front of the plenum cowl instead of hiding it behind and under it. I also had to extend the trigger wire for the angel eyes to get it to reach the e-box and will have to do the footwell remote trigger wire as well. So, have some extra wire on hand before you start the project.

In order to get the tapped wire from the e-box out into the engine bay, I poked a hole with a small screwdriver through the grommet separating the engine compartment from the e-box area. There it was joined to the original relay trigger wire. I did the same on the other side for the footwell remote trigger on the driver's side as well.

Finally, run the angel eye wiring along the headlight harness all the way to the headlight and make the necessary connections.

I didn't run the footwell remote trigger yet due to the subzero temps. I'll update when I get that finished up.

Hope this helps,

-Carter

Nice deal on the wheels/tires.

Not so nice deal on the weather. I can't imagine moving back into snow country...ugh.

its been a long winter and the coldest I can remember in northern ont canada, a few weeks of -30c brrrrrrrrr.
thanks for the complament , debating if I should use the stock rims for summer or the new to me winter rims I just got? they both look good. I was going to buy tires next year but I seen this deal and decided to go for it. tires alone would of costed more.
