Ordered a new water pump from Bavauto.

Heard a slight bearing rattle while at idle in garage over the weekend, went out today to a coolant stream down the driveway, removed undertray and can see the drips coming from the pump housing front seal area.

Guess I know what I'm doing this weekend. :(

Just got back from a "West Coast Spring Break" (12 days) with the family (Cali, Nevada and Arizona)...

All vehicles were plugged in to a Trickle Charger. Everything is in good running condition.

Hopefully my bimmers will behave the rest of 2014
* the only item on my list is oil & filter change before winter + battery check
* Fix passenger (outside folding mirror)

Original? That's damn good if so, as I recall you are close to 200k miles.

Not OE.

I replaced it at 105k miles over 3.5 years ago. At 180k now.

Well that speeds up my water pump schedule then, I'm at 72k but original at over 10 years old now.

Yeah, my OE lasted 7.5 yrs and 105k. The bearing failed at over 5k RPM, wrapped the belt up and broke the housing. Found chunks of aluminium and 5 bearing rollers sitting in the undertray upon removal.

My e30 did that 40 miles from Monterrey, Mx. Had if "fixed" at a roadside mechanic and limped into Monterrey at 2am took it to the dealer, who had never seen an e30 and sent me to their outsourced shop (which was very nice) and apparently had the same deal with every dealer in town. There were BMW, Benz, Audi, Ferrari, Jags etc. I waited a week before taking a bus home to Morelia instead of spending New Years 2005 in a hotel in Monterrey. Good times.

lol

FINALLY replaced the upper hatch actuator. Going to have to order a new rear emblem, though since the bungee cord that was holding it shut the last few weeks rubbed it raw.

Up next: Bowden cable, then it's on to the belts, pulleys, tensioners, water pump...
