Recently turned over 288,000 miles. 12k to my goal of 300,000.

I had believed that I was driving mine less than everybody else, at 67.5 miles per month over nearly 40 months, but, at 212704 miles, and in fine working condition (appearance-wise, not so much, having never been garaged by any of the three owners...I'm #3), I'm in no great hurry to add too many more miles on the X, anyway.

Updating my earlier post, six months later...I wrote down the wrong mileage (working from my senior memory), and it was either actually at 211704 miles (not 212704), back in Sept., or my odometer is running backwards, as it now reads 211910 miles!

I haven't been driving much at all, during the last six months (except for a couple of trips to the ranch, at 80+ miles each, and a few short trips to the store, inspection station, and the tax office (voting and car registration renewals), due to:
  • 1) my wife loves driving her Lexus more than riding in my X5 (seats are too hard!),
  • 2) I was really sick from Xmas until just recently, and would sometimes get into coughing fits, so I thought it wise to not drive at those times, and
  • 3) I tore the Piriformis muscle in my hip, on Dec.23, and because it affected my walking, it was followed by peroneal tendonitis in my leg (both on my right side), so it is uncomfortable (to say the least) to sit and drive.

So, since I swapped cars for the X5 in May of 2021, I've only driven it 1902 miles (but with untold hours of idling, while testing and workingonit) i.e. 211910 miles, as of today, minus 210908 miles, when I first got it, equals 1902 miles. That works out to be only averaging 1.644 miles per day, overall, racked up by me. For the life of the X5, 8646 days so far (since 7-13-2001), it's only averaged 24.51 miles per day.

At this rate, it may outlast me (at 27200 days, and counting).

With the obligatory TPMS error that went away at the next startup. I will NOT miss that about my old friend. He insists it's called 'character' and 'charm.'

I fear this is the last of these for me and Ole Blue. The Unicorn awaits some caliper seals and the underride protection install. Today I made the most defined step toward a replacement that is NOT The Toaster (F25):

A Donington Gray F95. :slap: I know, I know. But it only has 25k miles! And, and... it's PRETTY! And, and I got a job!
