I'm not sure if you can call AAA to go through the hatch and pull that emergency release. Most of the time they can use a bladder to create a gap but not sure if that can be done on the rear hatch without breaking it.

I thought there was a method where you could restore power temporarily to use your keys to unlock (under the car). I can't remember the method offhand. I'll try and see if I can find it.

EDIT: Is there AAA over there?! LOL! Sorry, I didn't notice you're not stateside.

We have the AA and RAC but not very helpful,I was told you could use a booster pack or jump leads and touch the starter to give enough power for the central locking to work but I'm not mechanically minded so don't know if it's possible or how accessible the starter motor is from under Neath the car???

I think that booster pack method was the one I was thinking of.

Do you know how accessible that is from the under side of the car or where it would be located if I was looking from the under side???

Not off the top of my head. Never had to do it but check on realoem. I'd check for you but don't have the X as its my wife's daily driver.

What model do you have?

This too funny that this thread is on the front page, I'm standing outside of Ikea and can't get inside my X5, lock is broken and my remote key is dead like most of ours are.
