does seem kinda' stin-gee, one door only - would have solved most lock-cylinder issues.. guess I won't be converting mine to RHD if I move to St. Thomas.
retrofit sounds scary, OBC-wise. |

I figure we would need the exterior door handle, door lock, and the mechanism on the inside. I can't imagine the car would know if anything changed. Going to see if RealOEM has part number similarities. |

So it looks like I will need the following. 09 Cover, lock cylinder, right SCHWARZ 1 51218243622 11 CATCH WITH KEY RIGHT 1 51217035422 $61.28 11 CATCH WITH KEY CODE RIGHT 1 51217035420 Can someone take a look at this. Is there something else that is missing? How does the lock cylinder connect to the actuator? What the hell is the catch with key code right? Key Code? Is this something that will have to be coded. I doubt it though. I am also pretty sure I can get that key cylinder to match my current key. Other than that, the part list does not seem to be that crazy. Well, one other thing. ECStunning does not have any of this, except for the cylinder, and they are overpriced on that part. So I am guessing that someone from UK might have to hook us up with the parts. |
OBC knows when the resistance is off on a turn signal and you want to add a completely new and never done before circuit to the Security section? The wiring and taps alone gives me the creeps. I am getting that you want to do it mechanically Only?
sorry, that's how I figure. and as always, would be overjoyed to hear different, because I cannot understand how Not having a passenger lock-cylinder could be seen as an improvement by the Werken gurus. |
Exactly. I just want it as an entry point. Nothing else. I don't know why it would be complex. I figure the only coding this would need to make sure the alarm doesn't get all out of whack when the pass door is unlocked first. I don't really care about that though. I just want to make sure one can still get into the car.

^I agree given that the alarm will go of when the psgr door is open., I would just have the remote handy to immediatly shut the alarm off and I would just set it up mechanically. Given how sensitive these electronics are I would be happy with just getting the mechanics right and go from there. I googles bmw part in the UK and forund several dealers that have used parts.
You need more information that I had to do a search. But, it seems they are available. |
