I think I saw you on 90/94 earlier this week heading up towards Waukegan. If it was you, you had your euro rear fogs on. Car looks nice. Although the LED taillights aren't really my "bag," they do look much better on black cars than on anything else. That's actually the first thing I thought of when I saw your car (i.e. "Hrm, those actually don't look bad on black - surprising because they look pretty crapy on the other colors.").

The other thing I thought after noticing the bright AEs and euro fogs was: "this chap's gotta be on XOutpost..."

Cheers.

So LemansX5 started this thread and disappeared!

What you think LemansX5? Thinking about doing the same but can't decide on which ones? I think the smoked signals will look nice on a silver 4.8is, I just don't want errors or flickering?

I have the smoked ones on my 2003 steel gray X and they look awesome. extremely bright (although I did have some flickering even being a pre facelift, fixed with an LED resistor kit. I also was told that you can "code out" the voltage monitoring that causes the flickering but mine did not respond to it. When I start the truck it is like close encounters of the third kind because the low voltage requirements of the LED's allow them to light up when they are being monitored where as a filament would not.) and give it a very updated look because of the style and the LED's combined. One other thing I like is the euro fog slots are already opened up and have a socket built in so I am going to wire them in and add LED running lights. The only change I would make to them (and I am going to) is the yellow bulb in the turn signal position gives the dreaded egg yolk. I am going to switch those to LED also.

I bought the ones in first thread. I got the regular ones instead of smoked as I can convert to smoked anytime by putting the film and convert them back.
Some close up pics. I tried using the LED bulbs for indicator, but it does not work, you have too use the regular bulbs.

Some phone pics.

During install, are you guys with factory subs having to remove them?

On the other side, the CD changer seems to be in the way too. My hands are too big to get this install figured out. Is there a specific wrench style that works best?

LeMans thanks for the pics. They look great. I wonder if there will be any Cyber Monday deals on em.

hey Lemans, any idea why the LED indicator didnt work??

XCUSM5 11-18-2012 04:52 PM

^ I'm guessing his LED bulbs are polarity sensitive. Sometimes you have to reverse the polarity and it lights right up.

I have the JL sub and I had the same issue, but one of the guys at work had no issue with his hands.
Find someone with small hands.;)

It was not the LED indicator bulbs, they worked fine but the LEDs at bottom will not light-up for running night lights, but would light fine for brakes.
