If you go in via the homepage you can choose to view the site in English (well kind of!).

I bought the ones in first thread. I got the regular ones instead of smoked as I can convert to smoked anytime by putting the film and convert them back.
Some close up pics. I tried using the LED bulbs for indicator, but it does not work, you have too use the regular bulbs.

Some phone pics.

I have the smoked version and I installed LED bulbs on mine. I found only a few vendors on Ebay that sold LED bulbs with the proper pin offset for the bulb socket. I also have LED bulbs in my front turn signals.

What you think LemansX5? Thinking about doing the same but can't decide on which ones? I think the smoked signals will look nice on a silver 4.8is, I just don't want errors or flickering?

I have taken them off for now. Flickering and other issues. Would love to know how to make them work.

Lemans,

Are you having trouble with the running lights and/or brake lights? If so, you may need to swap 2 of the pins around in the tail light harness on your car, I found that when I installed mine that the brake lights lit up just fine but the actual running LED's when my headlight switch was on were off.

After swapping 2 of the pins around in the harness, it works fine now. If you do a search of my threads you'll find my details about it.

As far as the "strobing" on startup, its something I live with and doesnt affect performance or life of the tail lights. If I find someone who can turn off the cold monitoring of the tail lights for me that would be great, but in the meantime the lights work as they should, and no flickering during normal operation.

Hope that helps you to enjoy the lights better, they really upgrade the truck!

The reverse light bulb and turn signal is the same as stock?

Thanks. Did you use Lightwerkz capacitors as well?

Ricky Bobby 11-21-2012 12:06 PM

Yeah, I did. For 20 bucks I figured it was cheap insurance to keep the tails working properly, even though I have a 2003 I couldn't find a definitive answer to see if the adaptive brake lights started in 2003 or 2004, and granted my truck was built 2 weeks before the facelift started so I was banking on them making some changes in between cycles. I installed them with the tails, no flickering while running.

Like I said, they work awesome, besides the startup strobing sequence, but doesn't affect them in normal driving operation. Check the pins on your harness, I'm guessing they switched around taillight wiring over the 7 years of production, thats what happened to me.

Let me know how you do, you just need a really small flat blade screwdriver to release the pins from the harness. Obviously do it on your cars wiring harness, the harness for the LED tails is siliconed to be watertight

Did you purchse the Zompkspeed LEDs or the other brand with the Phillips LEDs?

Thank you
Jim

I got the auto genius ones shown below, but they are all the same. I believe ZS racing/zompkspeed have bad pics. Mine also say Sonar in the back and have Philips LumiLEDs. On my facelift X5 it lights up fine but filckers non-stop on running lights. You need capacitor to stop that. On pre-facelift you have to swap center cables, as RickyBobby mentioned, on connectors to make it work.

Ricky Bobby 11-28-2012 09:45 AM

totally forgot you had facelift LeMans!

you may not need to swap pins on the harness, but you definitely need capacitors from lightwerkz. i emailed him and he sent me a paypal invoice, i had them in like 2 days.

I'm sure that will take care of you!
