Checked the fuses, they're all fine. I'll wait for the part to come and see how we go with that...

On mine, it was the blower relay that needed to be replaced at 76,000 miles, then again at 198,000 miles. The second time it was replaced (more expensive than first), the service writer told me that BMW had released a heavier duty unit.

Where is the blower relay located?
Cheers |
Sometimes you can wiggle the Finalstage, see if it may turn the fan on just for a bit, If its not the FSR then it may be the blower
|
Great, I believe changing the blower involves removing the dash?
|
Im still waiting for the FSR/FSU to arrive, should be here tomorrow. My car is right hand drive, I assume the FSR is in the same position.... is it easy enough to get to or should I just pay for a garage to do it? I can get it done for $250.... including the part.

Perfect!! Thanks for the link, I'll be tackling this in the morning. Hopefully it sorts my blower issue!

Yep its held in by 2 Gold screws, hope that helps when youre trying to locate it.
And for the blower motor, yup you need top remove the dash |
Update-it's all working!!!
A few points that may help people in the future... There are no screws holding the fsu in. There is a clip at the bottom of the fsu that holds it in place, you have to push this down to release it. I removed the side kick panel, the drop down panel above the pedals and the air vent tube for better access. Took me about 25 mins as I was looking for screws that weren't there lol. Both front and rear blowers now work from changing the one fsu, I'd read that they have 2.... Thanks for everyone's help!! |
