In photo 1 and 3 the white shroud are one in the same. I just pulled it out to show the black 12 pin connector. There are no other 12 pin connectors. In photo 1 the space to the left of the white shroud is empty.

you have both, the white and black shroud connectors? i could see only one...

one pic is from fmugur from this forum and the other one from someone else on bimmerforums...

I only have the white shroud. There is no black shroud or and other connectors on the wiring harness. So the AUX pins are on the right side where the black shroud should be.

the PDF instructions call for one of the harnesses to end in black connector which is to be inserted into the open slot... in case if the car has the black connector already present, then the pins are removed from the AUX harness and fitted into the black connector...

you need that black connector with black shroud in order to get your AUX activated... i guess, you do not have it... then you need to get one from a dealer... if i find the part number for connector and shroud, i will post it here... you could "hotwire" your pins to the open slot, just to see if the AUX will turn on... you only need 300 kOhm between left and right channels...

I'll try hot wiring the pins. Pin 9 (Aux L) Pin 10 (Aux R) and pin 4 (ground) correct ?

TerminatorX5 01-29-2014 01:36 AM

pin 3 - left
pin 4 - right
pin 10 - ground

yours is B1 harness from the PDF file...

Must be getting late I look at the top row of pins and thought the 1 was a 7 and was the 7 pin. Thanks Ill try in the morning and report back. Have a good evening.

It's nice to have options for an additional audio source that's for sure.

6 Disc CD player. (Not MP3)
Aux input.
Cassette player. ( Yes I do have custom mixed Cassettes)
Blu tooth streaming. Gonna try it with the iPad in a few days.

I guess that'll do for now........

I tried hot wiring the pins with my home made aux cable and just 300K (three 100K ohm in series) ohm resistor. No Aux with either attempt. What do the .22 caps do ?

Thanks

TerminatorX5 01-29-2014 05:41 PM

cap will block DC current on the lines while pass the AC current (audio is AC current). when the AUX is not in use, the caps just hang there...

tell us, how exactly you are proceeding with the "hotwire"?
