As was previously noted, be sure to watch out for after affects, and you may want to consult with an attorney that specializes in personal injuries resulting from drunk drivers. I don't have a problem with making him pay (financially and otherwise) for his mistake, I believe in redemption. If this is a first offense, then I would encourage you to lean towards supporting a sentencing that sends him to the equivalent of 'drug court' if such a thing exists in your area. Hopefully this is his 'rock bottom' and he can turn his life around and be a non-threat on the roads and a productive member of society. If he's a repeat offender, then never mind.
