You guys are just the best. Seriously. Pure class.

Young, sometimes the pain doesn't start for a few weeks. So take it easy, and mind your posture. I can creep up on you. 2 weeks after I was T-boned on my bike, I woke up, and had to be dressed and carried by my brother to the doctors. Cortisone steroid shot to the back and I was moving again. Keep your phone close by dude.

Part out section is up in the FS Forum for anyone interested.

Wow. That is horrible. Glad you are ok.

Jungerishere 06-10-2014 10:48 PM

Sorry to see your X in this condition but glad that you are OK.

I'm surprised that the passenger side airbag did not deploy nor the A-pillar airbags.

Even though I sold my X, I still check back here every once in a while and just saw this thread. I'm sad to see another 4.8is gone, but glad to see you made it out alive. Good luck with the part out!

Oh my God, I wasn't checking the forum for a few days and look what happened!!!

dude, I am glad that you are ok... like everyone else here, i think that piece of metal can be replaced, even though one gets attached to a car...

If I were running a BMW dealership, I would have searched out cars like yours and would put them up for a display along with the owner's story - best advertisement there is for the marque safety...

It is hard to replace an E53, especially in "is" trim with something of similar stance - but what do you have in plans for the next ride? an E70? F15? or something entirely different?..

Ricky Bobby 06-13-2014 09:19 PM

I'm with Fariz on this one. The photos alone sell the safety. I'm literally about to get my wife an E70 or E83 just because of the safety factor. I can't imagine she would have fared well in that crash with her Rav4....

How does bmw assist work? Is it something that's a subscription only? Or all x5s that came with it haves it?

TerminatorX5 06-23-2014 12:16 AM

i thought it was a subscription based service. seems that starting with 2014 model year, they will include the BMW assist for 10 years at no cost - right now if it part of the 4 year plan... not sure how it works on the older models - i have removed my TCU unit and installed a ULF unit, which probably does not sport the Assist hardware...

anyone has better info on this?
